As a Government Information Specialist, you will perform a wide range of duties related to the FOIA/PA Program. Primary responsibilities include researching, interpreting, and applying FOIA/PA statutes and regulations, as well as processing complex FOIA/PA cases.

  • The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
  • Monitor the status and progress of assigned Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) cases by determining and obtaining necessary materials and documents.
  • Analyze FOIA/PA requests to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Coordinate work with staff from other Federal and non-Federal agencies to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Utilize DHS/USCIS record systems, policies, and procedures to determine the completeness of records produced by the agency.
