Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center is actively recruiting for a Detail Nurse Manager for Geriatrics, Extended Care & Mental Health Service Line. The Nurse Manager holds the responsibility of implementation of the Vision Mission and Values of the TVAMC within their defined areas of responsibility. The incumbent is engaged in administrative nursing practice characterized by both increased complexity of clinical decision making and enhanced skill in nursing management.

• The Nurse Manager holds the responsibility of implementation of the Vision Mission and Values of the TVAMC within their defined areas of responsibility. The incumbent is engaged in administrative nursing practice characterized by both increased complexity of clinical decision making and enhanced skill in nursing management. Duties include but not limited to: Provides leadership in the day-to-day operations and provides input into strategic planning process in the attainment of organizational goals. Provides direct supervision of nursing personnel in their defined area of responsibility and evaluates their performance competency. Responsible for all issues that affect nursing including standards of practice, credentialing, training, functional statement, position descriptions, proficiency reports, performance appraisals, policies, procedures, protocols and competencies. Ensures appropriate orientation, education and continuing professional development of nursing personnel supervised. Assumes responsibility for staffing scheduling of permanent and supplemental nursing staff and ensures that assignment of the staff reflect appropriate utilization, and completing with staffing guidelines. Facilitates an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration and collegial relationships. Directs practice according to established policies, standards of care, and standards of practice, and is responsible to ensure that nursing practice and operations are compliant with all applicable local, VISN, or National Standards, policies, Statues and regulations. Fiscally responsible and participates with the Associate Chief Nurse in planning an monitoring the budget for their area of responsibility. Ensures nursing practice is consistent with external standards such as The Joint Commission and internal standards such as the VA Performance Measures. Provides guidance and direction to the performance improvement process. Performs other duties as assigned and within scope of responsibility.
