Housekeeping Assistant

 

Position Summary

Under supervision and in accordance with established schedules, procedures, and safety standards, performs housekeeping and service duties necessary to maintain the hospital’s patient, non-patient, and public areas in an orderly, safe, sanitary, and attractive condition.

 

Job Responsibilities

• • Uses dust cloths and vacuum cleaner to vacuum and/or damp dust ceilings, walls, vents, drapery rods, cubicle tracks, blinds, sprinkler heads, window sills, floors, furniture, lights, televisions, ledges, wall             mounted fixtures, etc.
  • Empties waste baskets. Cleans and relines waste baskets.
  • Arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion.
  • Strips, cleans, and makes beds with clean linens in prescribed manner upon discharge, transfer, or as directed.  Cleans all furniture and equipment in the room.
  • Scours and polishes sinks, tubs, mirrors, commodes, and similar equipment.
  • Replenishes supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items.
  • Operates necessary cleaning equipment in maintaining hard floors and carpeting in patient rooms and offices throughout the facility.
  • Gathers and disposes of all types of waste (regular, medical, sharps, recyclable, etc.)
  • Washes walls, ceilings, windows, and screens using a ladder when necessary to reach high places.

• • Periodically scrubs, refinishes, and buffs floors.
  • Vacuums carpeted areas. Checks and replaces vacuum bags as needed after use

 

 

Education/Experience

• The level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through the completion of a high school level course work. 
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform required competencies (skills) for this position within allotted time frames. 
• Related experience in a health care setting preferred.
