Position Summary
Under supervision and in accordance with established schedules, procedures, and safety standards, performs housekeeping and service duties necessary to maintain the hospital’s patient, non-patient, and public areas in an orderly, safe, sanitary, and attractive condition.
Job Responsibilities

- Selects materials and supplies from the custodian rooms, loads service cart, and transports to work area. At conclusion of shift, returns unused supplies to the custodian room, stores cleaning cloths and trash in designated areas, and cleans cart and equipment.
- Uses dust cloths and vacuum cleaner to vacuum and/or damp dust.
- Empties waste baskets.Clean and relines waste baskets.
- Arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashon.
- Strips, cleans, and makes beds with clean linens in prescribed manner upon discharge, transfers, or as directed. Cleans all furniture and equipment in the room.
- Scours and polishes sinks, tubs, mirrors, commodes, and similar equipment.
- Floor duties
- Periodically scrubs floors.
- Periodically scrubs, refinishes, and buffs floors.
- Operates necessary cleaning equipment in maintaining hard floors and carpet floors.
- Linen duties as necessary. Delivers clean linen to all areas
- Picks up soiled linens and places in holding area (truck).
- Assists in unloading and loading of linen trucks.
- Furniture moving. Transfers furniture. Rearranges furniture. Special set-ups
- Gathers and disposes of all types of waste (regular, medical, sharps, recyclable, etc.).
- Washes waste receptacles and relines with plastic bags.
- Transports trash to central collection points.
Education/Experience
- The level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through the completion of high school level course work.
- Minimum one (1) year experience required in the operation and maintenance of Automatic Floor Scrubbers, Floor Buffing Machines and Hot Water Extraction Machines.
- Experience on Automatic Riding Floor Scrubber equipment preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform required competencies (skills) for this position within allotted time frames.
- Related experience in a health care setting preferred but, not required.
