About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Behavioral Health, Department of Social Work Adult Medicine, Outpatient Social Work in Bethesda, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
- Collect bio-psychosocial information about patients using interview, case history, observation techniques, and assessment methods.
- Consult on or develop discharge pans for complicated cases, psychosocial assessments, and mental status examinations on behalf of beneficiaries throughout the area served.
- Analyze information collected to identify symptoms, determine psychiatric diagnosis, develop treatment plan, and/or determine advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists.
- Provide individual and/or group psychotherapy.
- Work with the multi-disciplinary team to develop disposition planning.
