PT- Instructor, WCE Nurse Aide Instructor – Days or Evenings classes (Open Pool)

The Part-Time WCE Nurse Aide Instructor is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality instruction in Workforce Continuing Education Nurse Aide courses. Instruction may include classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences at the Pinehurst Campus, Hoke Center, and assigned clinical sites.
The instructor supports student achievement of course competencies and program outcomes through effective teaching, assessment of student learning, maintenance of required instructional and clinical records, and promotion of a safe and professional learning environment. The instructor is responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable North Carolina Nurse Aide education requirements and Sandhills Community College requirements. This is a part-time instructional staff position.

General WCE Instructor Requirements

• Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction in accordance with established course objectives, learning outcomes, approved course outlines, and College requirements using appropriate instructional methods and strategies for adult learners. 
• Prepare and provide required course information, including an appropriate syllabus or course outline, and clearly communicate course expectations, attendance requirements, grading standards, schedules, and learning outcomes to students. The Instructor Guide specifically identifies these as expected syllabus elements. 
• Evaluate student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback. 
• Verify student enrollment and accurately maintain and submit required attendance, grade, assessment, participation, completion, and other instructional records in accordance with College and state requirements. 
• Protect the confidentiality of student educational records and information in accordance with FERPA and College requirements. 
• Support student engagement, progression, and success through effective instruction, communication, and appropriate instructional assistance. 
• Maintain professional and respectful communication and working relationships with students, faculty, staff, supervisors, and community, clinical, or industry partners, as applicable. 
• Communicate class cancellations, schedule changes, make-up arrangements, and other instructional changes in accordance with College procedures and supervisor direction. 
• Maintain a safe, professional, respectful, and organized instructional environment and follow applicable College safety, security, and emergency procedures. 
• Become familiar with student conduct expectations and promptly report behavioral, safety, or other concerns through appropriate College channels. 
• Become familiar with and adhere to the Workforce Continuing Education Instructor Guide and applicable College policies, procedures, instructional requirements, and program-specific requirements. 
• Participate in required College or program training, meetings, evaluations, and processes applicable to part-time instructional personnel. 
• Meet periodically with the appropriate WCE supervisor to discuss class schedules, course requirements, student progress, instructional needs, required materials, and other program matters.
• Support departmental and college initiatives, including student recruitment, retention, outreach activities, and program engagement efforts.

Program-Specific Instructor Requirements

• Provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction in Nurse Aide courses in accordance with applicable North Carolina requirements and Sandhills Community College program standards. 
• Demonstrate Nurse Aide skills, procedures, and appropriate healthcare practices in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. 
• Evaluate student performance in laboratory and clinical settings using established program competencies, skills checklists, and evaluation criteria. 
• Maintain required Nurse Aide program documentation, including clinical records, skills checklists, and other records specific to program and regulatory requirements. 
• Orient students to laboratory and clinical environments, including safety procedures, infection-control practices, patient-care expectations, and professional conduct. 
• Coordinate and supervise student clinical experiences and patient assignments in alignment with course objectives and previously learned concepts. 
• Conduct student conferences and provide feedback regarding laboratory, clinical, and skills performance, and support student progression and success.
• Maintain current knowledge of Nurse Aide education requirements, healthcare practices, clinical instruction, applicable program standards, and instructional methodologies.
• Maintain regular availability for student support and communication with faculty, staff, and clinical partners.
• Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to assigned students as appropriate.
• Participate in implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement activities specific to the Nurse Aide program.

• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state. 
• Minimum of two (2) years (4,000 hours) of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse in the United States. 
• Meets at least one of the following requirements: 
  1. Completion of a course in teaching adults; 
  2. Experience teaching adults; or 
  3. Experience supervising nurse aides. 
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Health Care Provider certification. 
• Knowledge of teaching and learning principles, clinical instruction, and healthcare safety practices. 
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, clinical partners, and secondary school personnel. 
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email, learning management systems, and standard office software applications.

Preferred education and experience:

• Previous teaching or instructional experience in a community college, secondary, or healthcare training environment. 
• Experience in clinical supervision of nurse aides and healthcare workforce training. 
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
