This position is located in Region 1, Mitigation Division, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate for this position will serve as a senior-level subject matter expert and advisor to regional leadership on coordinating and implementing flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
- What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as Insurance Outreach Program Specialist. Typical assignments include: Serving as the subject matter expert and provide technical assistance and updates for all National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) insurance-related matters, including for outreach and engagement. Handling insurance matters that arise on all "submit to rate" submittal. Coordinating with all responsible entities relating to the Increase Cost of Compliance (ICC), process and provide training and education on the process (pre-and post-disaster situations). Serving as the primary point of contact (POC) on all flood insurance and related matters and works closely with Federal, Tribal, and State lending regulators. Serving as regional liaison with Headquarters Mitigation Directorate on such issues as legislation, policies, trends and insurance proposals. What else do I need to know? At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
