Maintenance Technician

Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems. This role ensures that production operations run smoothly and equipment downtime is minimized through preventive maintenance and prompt corrective actions. The Maintenance Technician works closely with the production, engineering, and safety teams to support continuous manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities Preventive Maintenance Program

• Perform and track daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual PM tasks on all fabrication equipment (lasers, press brakes, punches, shears, welders, saws, forklifts, cranes, compressors, dust/fume collection, HVAC, etc.) per manufacturer specs and internal PM schedules.
• Maintain and update a master PM calendar/checklist system so no scheduled task is missed or overdue.
• Perform routine tasks such as lubrication, filter changes, belt/chain inspection, calibration checks, fluid changes, and general inspections.
• Identify and flag developing issues during PM rounds before they cause unplanned downtime.

Logs & Documentation Control

• Complete maintenance logs accurately and on schedule for every piece of equipment (paper or CMMS/digital system).
• Maintain document control for all maintenance records: PM checklists, service reports, repair history, calibration certificates, safety inspections, and equipment manuals.
• Ensure records are organized, current, and audit-ready (for ISO, customer, or insurance audits as applicable).
• Track equipment history/downtime to identify recurring problems and support repair-vs-replace decisions.

Repairs & Outside Service Coordination

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on shop equipment.
• Determine when an issue requires an outside vendor or OEM service technician; contact and schedule service calls.
• Serve as the on-site point of contact for service technicians — provide access, describe the issue, and confirm work performed before sign-off.
• Review and file service reports/invoices; update equipment records with work performed.
• Respond promptly to unplanned equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

Consumables & Parts Management

• Build and maintain a consumables list for every machine (e.g., laser lenses/nozzles, punch tooling, brake dies, welding tips/liners, filters, belts, lubricants, PPE).
• Monitor stock levels and reorder consumables and spare parts before shortages impact production.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers/vendors; obtain quotes and place purchase orders per company procedure.
• Keep the parts/consumables storage area organized and inventory counts accurate.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) and all applicable safety procedures during maintenance work.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety standards; report hazards immediately.
• Support facility upkeep: lighting, overhead doors, dust collection systems, and general building maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school certification a plus.
• 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience, metal fab or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with CNC equipment (lasers, press brakes, punches) strongly preferred.
• Basic welding and fabrication skills a plus.
• Comfortable using a CMMS or digital logging/inventory system, or willing to learn.
• Strong record-keeping habits and attention to detail.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics, and OEM documentation.
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
• Self-directed, able to manage a PM schedule with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, 75+ lbs occasionally with assistance.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Comfortable working at heights and around industrial machinery.
• Manual dexterity for tool use and precision adjustments.
• Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and shop environment; PPE required.
• Available for occasional off-shift or emergency callouts to address equipment breakdowns.

CompensationThe base pay range for this role is $28 – $36 per hour.
