Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. Are you a customer service professional that anticipates needs and takes proactive steps? Great! We are currently seeking a compassionate Customer Service Representative to serve as the first point of contact for the individuals that receive our services.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; one year of customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Five or more years of customer service experience in a medical or related setting preferred; experience with centralized scheduling preferred. Experience entering information in databases preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service; of standard office practices and procedures. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public; to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages; to perform mathematical calculations; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred. Ability to use an electronic health record system preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Greets and assists customers in a medical setting;
• Answers multi-phone lines;
• Receives payments and reviews accounts;
• Performs general office support tasks (e.g. data entry, filing, copying); creates and updates Excel spreadsheets;
• Enters/keys information into databases;
• Schedules appointments using an electronic health record system; and
• Performs other work as required.
