Staff Psychologist (MHICM/RANGE)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

• Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The incumbent functions as a Psychologist within the Behavioral Health Service at VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS); The Psychologist may be located at the Veterans Recovery Center (VRC). The Psychologist reports to the Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM) Program Manager. The Psychologist functions as a member of the VASNHS MHICM team and provides intensive case management services characterized by assertive outreach, individualized treatment planning, multidimensional orientation, and intensive delivery of services. Duties may include but are not limited to: Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, including psychological assessment, and uses the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care. Performs evaluations for the full range of mental health clients, particularly those with acute psychiatric symptoms, serious mental illness, and comorbid substance use disorders. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions for Veterans living with Severe Mental Illness (SMI), including individual and group psychotherapy, use of evidence-based interventions, family/couples therapy, psychoeducation, case/care management, and referrals as appropriate. Frequent, direct contacts with Veterans to provide therapy and support. A focus on strengthening the Veteran's ability to address acute and chronic problems and improving overall quality of life. Use of naturalistic community settings for teaching and modeling problem solving skills. Provision of continuity of care within the framework established by MHICM RANGE. Outreach and assertive provision of services to treatment resistant Veterans. Mobilization of environmental and organizational support including family members, professionals, and other interested parties. Participate in team staffing regarding Veteran selection, determination of treatment plans and goals, progress evaluation, discharge planning, and after care. Work assertively and consistently with inpatient teams to assure continuity of care by providing consultation regarding clinical needs, treatment plans, and case management services for assigned Veterans. Is actively involved in readmission decisions, using the procedures established for this purpose. Completes clinical documentation according to MHICM RANGE. Work with other clinical programs and service lines that share in the care of assigned MHICM RANGE Veterans. Provide documentation of Veteran care as prescribed by the MHICM, Medical Center Policies (MCPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Meet with VA, community, professional organizations and individuals as needed to carry out assigned developmental and implementation responsibilities. Accountable for practice, including Veteran visits, measuring outcomes to interventions, and meeting productivity standards. Collaboratively completes treatment plans using Mental Health Suite. Completes required measures in the Behavioral Health Lab (BHL). Attend regularly scheduled treatment team meetings, daily huddles and other staff-related consultation meetings. Complete all clinical charting and documentation required by the health care system in a timely manner. Adheres to HIPPA, privacy regulations and VHA Directives related to release of information.
