The Gallery's Accounting and Payroll (TGA) department maintains accounting records for appropriated and private funds. This position performs advanced accounting support work associated with receiving, recording, depositing, reconciling, and documenting cash receipts and other revenue transactions. The work supports the maintenance of accurate general ledgers and accounting records. This is a GS-8/9 career-ladder position. At GS-8, assignments are developmental, with additional guidance provided for unusual or nonroutine matters. GS-9 is the full-performance level. Duties for this position include. Process, verify, and accurately record cash receipts, deposits, and related accounting transactions. Reconcile cash activity to bank, Treasury, and financial-system records; research and resolve discrepancies. Apply appropriate accounting codes and maintain complete supporting documentation and audit-ready records. Respond to customer and internal-office inquiries regarding payments, accounts, and transaction status. Resolve complex/nonstandard issues and coordinate corrective actions with Finance, Treasury, and other offices.
