Master Machine | Chattanooga, TN

Employment Type: Full-Time

Master Machine is looking for Assembly Technicians to join our General Assembly team. This team is responsible for bringing machined and fabricated components together into completed products and sub-assemblies while meeting our engineering, quality, and safety standards.

We’re looking for candidates across a range of experience levels — from individuals with strong mechanical aptitude who are ready to build their assembly skills to experienced assemblers capable of handling complex, tight-tolerance work.

What You’ll Do

• Assemble machined and fabricated components using hand tools, torque tools, measuring equipment, and approved assembly methods
• Read and follow blueprints, work instructions, torque specifications, and quality documentation
• Verify fit, alignment, torque, and dimensional accuracy throughout the assembly process
• Complete required assembly and quality documentation
• Identify and troubleshoot fit-up, alignment, sequencing, and other assembly issues
• Support inspections and quality checks to ensure finished work meets requirements
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow PPE, lockout/tagout, lifting, and material-handling requirements
• Help identify opportunities to reduce defects, rework, variation, and build time
• At more experienced levels, mentor junior team members and help reinforce standard assembly practices

• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with your hands
• Ability to safely use hand tools, torque tools, and measuring equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints appropriate to your experience level
• Understanding of mechanical assembly, fit-up, alignment, tolerances, and inspection requirements
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to follow documented processes and work instructions
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a production team

For more senior positions, we’re looking for additional experience with complex assemblies, troubleshooting, precision measurement, mentoring, leadership, or continuous improvement.

Training & Development

Depending on your experience and position level, training may include blueprint reading, torque tools and sequencing, precision measurement, overhead crane operation, GD&T, quality systems, and lean/continuous improvement.

There is also room to grow within the General Assembly team, with a career path from Assembly Technician I through Assembly Technician II and III, with future opportunities in team leadership, process improvement, and quality specialization.
