  • The Motor Vehicle Operator supports the Marshal's Office by providing transportation, delivery, and logistical services. The incumbent transports personnel, mail, furniture, equipment, and supplies to designated locations, including the Court, off-site warehouses, and other authorized sites. The role includes inspecting and maintaining vehicles, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and assisting with the proper handling of fragile or sensitive items. The Motor Vehicle Operator also performs related duties as assigned to support operational efficiency. SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Vehicle Operation Safely operate a variety of departmental vehicles, including sedans, vans, heavy duty truck with 18-foot drive freight box, and other specialized vehicles, in accordance with all applicable traffic laws and safety regulations, under routine and challenging conditions. Transport personnel, mail, furniture, equipment, and supplies between the Court, off-site warehouses, and other authorized locations. Ensure timely and secure delivery, especially for fragile or sensitive items. Ensure proper securing and protection of cargo, especially fragile or valuable items, during transit. Use appropriate packing, cushioning, and handling techniques to prevent damage. Support special transportation or logistical requests as directed by supervisors, including emergency or urgent deliveries. Material Handling Equipment Operation Operate forklifts (electric, gas, or propane-powered) and pallet jacks safely and efficiently, including routine inspections and minor maintenance, to load and unload trucks and warehouse storage areas. Assist with manual loading and unloading of furniture, supplies, and equipment, utilizing proper lifting techniques and safety procedures. Coordinate and perform scheduled mail and Court Filings, and supply pick-ups from designated locations within the Court premises. Trip and Maintenance Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles, checking tire condition, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and safety equipment. Perform routine maintenance tasks or report vehicle issues for repair in accordance with established guidelines. Clean vehicles after use. Maintain accurate logs of all trips, including departure/arrival times, mileage, fuel consumption, stops, and any incidents or issues encountered during operation. Safety Compliance Adhere to all safety protocols, including observing speed limits, capacity restrictions, and defensive driving practices to ensure safety of passengers, cargo, and other road users. Complete accident reports and document damages or traffic violations. Report vehicle or equipment malfunctions promptly for maintenance or repairs.
