This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the General Counsel (OGC), General Law Division (GLD). The primary purpose of this position is to provide responsive and high-quality legal advice and service to the Presidentially-appointed Chief Information Officer and the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) senior management. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
- As an Attorney-Advisor (General), GS-0905-14/15, your typical work assignments may include: Coordinating legal issues for OCIO with other OGC divisions and DHS Components. Drafting and reviewing opinions arising from or impacting OCIO operations; evaluating proposed/recommended legal strategies and principles; and determining consequences of various actions on current policy. Researching and analyzing applicable laws and regulations, providing interpretations of those laws and regulations to the DHS General Counsel and other DHS officials. Reviewing acquisition and procurement documents as requested by the OCIO and coordinating with OGC General Law Division attorneys providing fiscal, acquisition and procurement law advice. Reviewing and providing drafting assistance on information technology related agreements (e.g., Interconnection Security Agreements, Information Sharing Agreements, and other Memoranda of Agreement) as requested by the OCIO. Providing advice on OCIO-led statutesto include the Paperwork Reduction Act, Federal Information Security Modernization Act, Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act, 44 U.S.C. chapter 31 (Records Management by Federal Agencies); Executive Orders; OMB memoranda; and DHS delegations and directives.
