About Beacon Kalamazoo
Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life-threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. What You’ll Do
A Pharmacy Tech Advoc reports to the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor. Under the clinical supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and legal and regulatory requirements, you will compound sterile products and prepare unit-of-use pharmaceuticals for dispensing and ensure delivery of products and pharmaceutical supplies to patient care areas. You will also maintain pharmacy working inventory.
Pharmacy Tech Advoc Job Responsibilities:
- Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.
- Restocks the order and maintains inventory for the Pharmacy department.
- Prepares sterile and non-sterile compounds.
- Prepares hazardous sterile and non-sterile compounds and preparations.
- Repackages bulk medications.
- Receives and stores incoming supplies.
- Triages incoming calls and serves as a liaison between pharmacy, patient and health professionals by providing information.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Complete mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Complete annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR), and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Utilize appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adhere to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Comply with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate will have Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effective communication skills necessary to follow verbal and written instructions, including the ability to understand technical and pharmaceutical terminology.
- Demonstrate mathematical skills necessary to accurately compute fractions, ratios, percentages and totals.
- Effective interpersonal skills necessary to consistently interact with patients, families, visitors and staff in a courteous manner; and to maintain positive working relationships.
