About the Position: Serve as Pharmacy Technician for the Clinic Pharmacy Service located at Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center in Fort Meade, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
- Receives, reviews, prepares, and fills physician orders for outpatient prescriptions, and bulk drug orders.
- Executes bulk drug orders, replenishment of emergency medication carts and medication carts issued to medication use areas within the facility in accordance with local policy.
- Determines type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice, federal laws, state laws, and pharmacy standing operating procedures (SOPs).
- Enters prescriptions into outpatient computer system, reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders. Current computer platforms include MHS Genesis, GSL, Pyxis, ScriptPro, as well as robotic systems.
- Provides appropriate information to patients on proper use of medications, referring questions requiring professional knowledge and experience to a registered pharmacist.
