You will serve as a Park Rangerwith US Fish and Wildlife Service at the Selawik National Wildlife Refuge in KOTZEBUE, Alaska. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
- Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Develops and implements interpretive and environmental education programs, products, and events utilizing a variety of media methods and materials such as brochures, fact sheets, signs and digital media. Administers the refuge's program for commercial and non-commercial special use permits, and other permits which include reviewing requests and applications, receiving reports, writing and issuing permits. Recruits, trains, and oversees work of other park rangers, refuge information technicians, interns and volunteers performing visitor services work which includes developing work schedules, assigning tasks, and drafting performance plan elements. Identifies and engages with local community organizations (service organizations, local governments, Tribes, educational institutions, media outlets, and businesses) to develop partnerships and provide educational materials, environmental education, communication plans, and various outreach activities such as public meetings. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
